We knew we had to do something to mount our navigation device and phones.. We have a huge trip to Canada and Alaska this summer and navigation was a must.. after quite a bit of research we landed on the TPAM 3rd Gen powered mount, We ordered it.. then found out it was backordered (Sad face here) but then it got shipped (happy face here) it showed up at noon friday, and by 4 pm we had it all installed and buttoned up. Easy peasy, even for my big fat fingers.. the only tight spot was pulling the plug on the 12 volt power port, but the easy part was the nifty taps that allowed the power to be tapped into.. the hints and tips on the video were a game changer.. and it looks darn clean, ver neat .. thanks to Expedition Essentials.

Just installed this today on my 2021 Tacoma. Followed the YouTube video provided and it was very straight forward. Easy to understand. Having a dremel with the roto zip bit helps a great deal opening the ovals and the wire notch. Everything went together easily and without issue. Platform is rock solid. Fit and finish is oem professional. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. The only con is that it’s pricy but it’s very much a buy once cry once situation. You get what you pay for every penny. It’s completely worth it. I’d love to be able to buy the USB C module as well as the USB A one to be able to have both options. Maybe I’ll inquire about purchasing a USB C option a la carte through costumer service. Great product. Big fan!

First, this is the only mount that looks right, fits right and is functional for multiple devices. Install took me about an hour taking my time and it is rock solid. I can now mount devices out of the way without cords all over and it looks clean. Spend the money and do it right. This is what you want.

Okay, so I’ve had this product for almost a year now. The mount is very sturdy and the finish is excellent. In conjunction with ram mounts, I would recommend this product to only. My only complaint is that the back cover is longer than the actual mount on the driver side.

Fits the tacoma like a glove. Used this mount(with some mods)to attach my sPod screen to my 2020 Tacoma. Wired the USB charger back to the sPod so it's not constantly on. Looks like it came stock with the truck and plenty of room left for my cell phone and Garmin. Awsome product. Thank you!

My wife got me the 3TPAM with the wiring cover for Christmas and it is amazing. I installed it in under an hour after watching a couple YouTube videos. I ordered some ram mounts that came in today and I could not be happier with the results. 100% recommend this to any one with a Tacoma.

I have had mine installed for a few months now. The instructions were easy to follow. I opted to buy the “add a fuse” kits so that I ran the power from the fuse block without having to cut/splice/tap any wires from the stock wiring harness. Their way included tapping into the 12v socket which would have been easier but I opted against it. The mount looks great on the dash, the ram mounts hold my equipment rock steady. I have my iPhone, HAM radio control face plate (yaesu ftm-400], and my Garmin inReach. It looks great, and the powered outlet keeps wires from dangling across my dash board. I later purchased the wire cover which makes it look even better. Would definitely buy this again, but I’m sure I will never have to since build quality is fantastic.

Okay so I love this thing !! it is not the new style one it still has the bluesea USB ports and the new flush mounted USB looks nice but other than the aesthetics no change to functionality. I am not all that skilled with this kind of stuff but the provided instructions and you tube Vids make this an easy install just take your time measure twice drill once. The holes all lined up great and I had no issues with the parts fitting together and it dose complement the dash well on the 3rd gen Taco. Customer service is amazing and the owner (forgot his name sorry) took the time to help me decide on what would work best for my rig and gave me some great info and some youtube vids to check out after I told him how worried I was to do the install........ it worked out great so no issues there !! Build quality is amazing the powder coating is flawless and the fit and finish is superb. The kit came really well packed and all the required hardware was intact and bagged together so no searching for missing bits !! over all I am super happy with this purchase and how well it supports my tab, phone, GPS, while on the trails. I would suggest you follow the recommendation and use the short arm for supporting your tab not that the TPAM can't take the weight it just keeps it far more stable off road. great product great quality great customer support ! and I will hit them up for future needs !!

This mount is very pleasing to the eye, flows nicely with the dash of the tacoma, install took me about an hour and a half; all in all not very difficult for a semi technical person such as myself. The instructions spell it out pretty well. Build quality is over the top and way better than expected!

All pieces of the mount were well measured and fit the trim almost perfectly. The bare aluminum pieces however, were severely scratched and none of the edges were tapered. As a matter of fact they were quite sharp with burrs. The coated pieces come with an excellent finish. I have mixed opinions about the wiring solution. The provided install technique is relatively simple and I understand why it was used. However, it isn't the most robust or electrically efficient method. The wires are 16awg and a set of 3M ScotchLok IDC splice connectors is provided to tap into the cigarette lighter wiring which btw isn't the same gauge. A better method would be to run a separate, fused wire through a conduit to an ignition-controlled terminal. As mentioned in other reviews, the provided wires are a little short to "easily" install as intended. I ended up soldering an extension to reach through the firewall to the fuse box. At 16awg, the voltage drop from 13.8V, 2.4A over 10ft is <2%, so it isn't a problem if you have the time. The mounting holes all lined up with my ram mount accessories nicely. The final install is solid enough to hold several accessories without flexing. I've attached a Juggernaut inductive charging mount with a Samsung S10, Uniden CB mic with cord, Icom ham radio mic with cord, and Uniden R7 remote control. All stay relatively tight. Finally, the box even included a cool sticker. I'd include pictures here if I could. Check #ExpeditionEssentials on IG.

Store owner replied: Thanks for the very detailed Review!! we appreciate it; please note the bare aluminium brackets are inner support brackets that are behind the scene doing their job and are not hand finished and powder coated because it is not necessary for inner structural brackets you will never see again, if we did so we would be forced to increase cost. additionally, thank you for the tips on the wiring, there are always other methods of wiring your USB however we only recommend tapping into the cigarette lighter as it is the least intrusive of the vehicles electrical system. Enjoy your new mount!
Ummm, seen some guy below complaining about his trucks wiring; This review is about the actual product I purchased; yeah you have to have some common sense when you are installing it. But the mount itself, clearly some though went into this thing, way overbuilt and it seems they thought of folks having this long term. great fit and superior function: what more could you ask for?

What they do not tell you us that where they want you to tap for power has little to no slack and you can't get your hands on there too install them connectors. I had to take my entire dash apart to cut the insulation back on the harness for the connectors to for. But took a Sunday and got it installed.

Install was pretty simple and straight forward. I purchased the mounting bracket along with the wire cover and the phone bracket. Everything went together nicely and fairly easily, the only downfall's is you'll have to buy the 10/32 screws for the accessories you'd want to attach to the front bracket; but your local hardware store will have them and it only cost me about $2. Also, you'll have to be careful wiring the included harness to your AC plug. All in all I am very happy with this product.

This is a great mount. I just installed mine after having it since Christmas, and it fits and works as described and intended. The instructions were very thorough and the installation video very good. The ONLY reason this product is not 5 stars from me, is that even with the video and instructions, it is not an /easy/ installation. I'm very technically inclined and handy with tools, but the design elements on this one yield a great, but bothersome product to install. The holes on the top of the 3TPAM are very small, this makes it hard to get the screws through them and into the brackets through the holes you drill in the bezel, and because the screws are behind the mount, you have to thread them in by feel, you can't see them. I ended up using my phone camera in "Selfie mode" with my phone propped up against the windshield to get everything lined up. In addition, one of the inserts on my wire cover had a messed up thread in the bracket, this resulted in a screw getting stuck in the cover bracket, that I cannot screw in further, nor remove from the cover, it's just sticking up halfway out there. All those things aside, the mount is sturdy, and the quality of the build is good, I would recommend to friends, I just wish it wasn't such a pain to install!

3TPAM installed in my 3rd Gen Tacoma and love it. It's finished nicely and installs cleanly. If you are comfortable splicing the wire for the factory 12volt cig socket, you're good to go, though doing that is frustrating and difficult. Alternative installation: The wire splice clips - throw those away. Instead, install a U connector to the negative and ground it - there is a grounding bolt to the left of the head unit. Then run the positive lead to the internal fuse panel and use a fuse-tap. You'll need your own wiring as the included one is too short for this method. Once installed, it's rock solid. Looks like it came with my truck from Toyota.

The new generation is way better than the old
Kit is nice but if you purchased the older model. This is a slap in the face. The older model hangs significantly over the bezel.
